In the previous post was presented an example of an early plan 📝 to start making an user research process (the link is at the end).

Let me say that this project [Meerkapp 🐭], is part of a course and the tools implemented are related with the ones that are required on it.

There are thousand of tools out there and could be different in each project. What is important are the results, product of the process and the way of thinking 💭 of each professional, that allows to arrive to a suitable (or “a perfect”) solution.

In this post we are going to present the results of this part of the research. Let’s go.

One of the initial questions of this project is: How can we help people that feel insecure arriving home 🏠?

It’s a question that maybe a lot of us are not doing but it’s a daily issue for a lot of people around the world, over all in developing countries.

We talk with some neighbours in a casual way and after that we make this survey to understand more about this situation.

We found that participants feel insecures, have routines and sometimes communicate 📞 before coming back home.

Also we found that currently used applications are not specially designed for this target.

The sons and the daughters say that they communicate before starting the way back home more than the parent. It also could be understood that the perception 👁 is different in the case of the parents, that demand more information from their sons or daughters.

Also we can assume that women usually pay more attention to the feelings of their parents than the boys.

They say that they used to send messages, doing callings or sharing positions 🛣 before departing.

The most common contexts are usually in people’s routine, as school, college, work. Also when youngs go for a party or come late at home. 🏢🏪🏨🏛

The parents are more interested in knowing where their family members are than the sons and the daughters.

They prefer to watch real time positioning on a map and receive notifications📫 when a son or a daughter is coming back home.

The youngs prefer to incorporate uber and taxi information and also a magical button that blocks the phone, alerts the police and shares the position to known people.

The participants have some ideas as to the possibility to create networks 👯‍♂️ and upload how they are dressed. 👗

Conclusions

To conclude, we could say that family members that feel insecure living in “dangerous” neighborhoods communicate before. 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

There is not an app made just for it. 🎯

People used to have a weekly routine that changes sometimes. 🗓

The most common contexts are school, university, institutes, party. 👨🏻‍🏫

The features more appreciated for parents are real time position and notifications.

The features more appreciated for sons and daughters are incorporate information and a button for blocking the mobile, share position and advice police. 👮🏼‍♀️

Usually young people used to forget to write or call to their parents.

In the next article “UX personas” we are going to try to understand more about users and after that we are going to do our “first sketches” of some of these features into an idea to know what is the opinion of the users in order to start an iterative process of creation.
